complement each other.

 Balance and Pattern: The handicraft has a symmetrical arrangement evident through the
horizontal stripes pattern of the threads used.
 Contrast: There is a strong difference between the colors used (Light Pink, black, and Dark Pink)

B. Essay: How does this product or artifact express the Filipino concept of art?

This artifact ex presses the Filipino concept of art in two categories namely
representation and expression. In the aspect of representation, the notepad handicraft
and the entire handicraft industry represent the rich culture and resources, tradition
and heritage of this country. Handicrafts serve as a substantial medium to preserve the
traditional art of the country and further stimulate the marketability of the different
products used as its material such as Field Grasses, Buntal Fibers, Vetiber grass and a lot
more. Meanwhile, in the aspect of expression, this handicraft reflects the emotions of
human’s inner life, particularly the workers. This handicraft represents the endeavor of
diverse kind of people employed in Binuatan such as young women, out-of-school youth
and working students. This substantiates the fact that there is more beyond just a
handicraft. Overall, this handicraft represents the traditional art of the country, and the
story of the artisans themselves.
