usually wear a Tracht,
although is a traditional
dress in Austria, is very
used by germans
trough the history, and
now even more
because of this festival.
What people Millions of people head
do. here from across the
globe to drink massive
beers, eat traditional
food, sing raucous
songs, and generally
have a good time.
Mostly, it’s all about
drinking and you’ll see
 plenty of waitresses in
typical Bavarian
costumes serving more
beer than you can
imagine. On the first
day, at the
Schottenhamel tent it’s
a place where people
catch the official
opening ceremonies at
around 11am before
the Mayor of Munich
has the honor of
touching the first barrel
of Oktoberfest beer.
Then the drinking can
officially begin, and
there is a lot of beers to
try.
Why it is a It´s in honor of a royal
special wedding celebrated on
celebration. October 12 of 1810,
and also in honor of the
Crown Princess.
