DETERMINING STADIA INTERVAL FACTOR

LIST OF EQUIPMENT: Automatic Level, Tripod, Plumb bob, Stadia or Leveling Rod, Measuring
Tape, and Pegs or Markers
OBJECTIVE: To determine the stadia interval factor of the Automatic Level.
PROCEDURE:
1. Set up and level the instrument on fairly level ground at station O.
2. From the center of the instrument, lay out a 70-m distance.
3. Set marking pins on the 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70-m marks from the instrument’s position.
Designate these points A, B, C, D, E and F, respectively.
4. With the transit at point O, place the leveling rod at point A and take the stadia hair readings.
5. With the transit still at point O, transfer the leveling rod at point B and take the stadia hair
readings.
6. Repeat the process until all the marked points have been observed.
7. Tabulate all measure values accordingly.
8. Compute the stadia interval factor
