Hurricane Dorian certainly played havoc with the people in the Bahamas. It moved through the island
earlier this week, devastating both property and residents alike in the aftermath.

One of the obvious casualties of this storm would be the stray animals, particularly the dogs. Housing all
stray dogs in time is next to impossible but a woman managed to pull it off successfully. She opened the
doors to her home and was able to save around 97 dogs from becoming victims of the relentless
hurricane.

Her name is Chella Phillips, and this wasn’t the first time she tried to save stray pups. She also managed
a dog rescue group named Voiceless Dogs of Nassau, committed to helping stray dogs in the island.

Before the storm hit, Chella already started preparations for her to be able to take in as many dogs as
she possibly can. By the time the hurricane made landfall, 97 homeless dogs were settled inside her
home. It was a bit cramped by they were able to ride out the storm safe and sound.

Amazingly, the dogs got along famously with each other. Their kinship stems from being frequently on
the streets, recognizing that they share similar backgrounds. Chella shared several pictures of her new
boarders, showing how they invaded her home.

Eventhough they had a roof over their heads, they were not spared from the hurricane’s wrath. Water
found a way to come in, electricity soon went down, and the chaos and noise frightened the dogs. Chella
and her family worked nonstop to comfort the scared pups, playing and singing to them to calm their
nerves.

Her post soon went viral, and donations started pouring in. Some donated crates to house the scared
and sickly dogs, while some provided supplies such as food and monetary support. A funding page was
launched and has soon collected over $200,000 so far.

Luckily enough, all the dogs managed to make it through the ordeal.
