INT. BRIANA’S CHILDHOOD HOME, LIVING ROOM: EVENING

It is evening on a weekend and the sun is about to set. The

little girl sits on the thickly carpeted floor intently
watching ‘The nanny diaries’. Her head tilts back as she
watches up on the television screen and the distorted rays
of the sunset sun enter from the corner of the window. Two
people speak aggressively at a distance behind closed doors,
their voices hearable under the movie’s audio sound system.

RUBY LEROY, 32, 5’6, FIERCE, SKINNY AND LOOKS OLDER THAN HER
AGE, enters the living room

RUBY
(talking in a quick manner)
Hey Briana sweetheart, come on now you go in your room.

Briana LEROY, 9, head full of long dark brown hair and olive
skin, looks curiously with her grey eyes

BRIANA
Can I please finish this movie mommy? It’s nice and I like
it.

RUBY grabs Briana by her arms forcefully making her stand

up.

RUBY
You will stay in your room as long as I say so.

BRIANA
