Professional Development Reflection and Planning

Think about your career in the field of early care and education. Reflect on your current professional
satisfaction and create a plan for next steps in continuing your professional growth.

What excites you MOST about your job? What are you passionate about? How does your passion
contribute to the field of early care and education?
I am most excited about being able to teach children of the next generation and showing kids how fun it
is to learn. I love being with kids and enjoy teaching different subjects. I am deeply passionate about the
wellbeing and having excellent education for children. It contributes to the field because it shows how
much I care for children and that it can help students succeed in their lives as they grow.

What challenges are you currently facing in your work in the field of early care and education?
The only challenge that I am facing is being intimidated by other teachers who are more experienced then
me. I am always nervous that in their eyes I am doing something wrong and will not be good enough in
many eyes. It is mostly just insecurities, but I always try my best and am willing to learn.

What new insights did you gain from discussions and activities during the credential course work?
Identify ways you can use these new ideas and processes in your teaching practices.
The new insights that I gained from activities and discussions is new ways to have children learn and
have knowledge in the field. I have also gotten great experiences with other teachers to learn in a
daycare environment. I have also seen correct ways to have a classroom and how to be with preschool
age children.

What other ideas do you want to consider, think about more, or explore that will benefit you as a
professional?
I really am considering in getting educated in another language to have more skills in my profession for
those who do not speak English since Spanish is the 2nd most spoken language. It is also a great asset for
me to have a minor in Spanish when applying for a job and working with people.

Identify a professional organization you want to consider joining (i.e. NAEYC, WECA, WFCCA,
WCCAA, etc.). What are the benefits to you in joining this organization? Are there any barriers to your
participation?
I would consider joining the NAEYC organization because they are a great resource for teachers in the
field and parents with their children. There are not any barriers for me to participate in the group. The
benefits of joining are discounted auto, home, and life insurance. You can access exclusive content for
families, and access to the interest forums to connect with members to learn about specific topics.
