For a lot of LTM-mobile cranes , Liebherr also provides swing-
away jibs, the variation of which can be performed by a
hydraulic ram instead of the conventional angle variation.
Instead of the mechanic variation bracket, a hydraulic ram for
the continuous variation of the swing-away jibs of up to 36 m
length is located on the base section of the swing-away jib.
A hose drum on the telescopic boom base section and the
programming of the LICCON safe load indicator are included
in the delivery scope of this optional equipment.
The hydraulic variable swing-away jib offers:
• flexible and economic load handling
• variation under full load
• and it permits new domains of application, e.g. if luffing of
the telescopic boom is very restricted or not possible on
tight construction sites in a city due to protruding building
edges or overhead power lines. In such case, the load is
picked up with the swing-away jib at a minor radius, lifted
over the obstacle and placed at its destination at any radius
by variation of the swing-away jib.
Convenient applications for the operation with a continuously
variable swing-away jib are jobs such as mounting of air-
conditioning and elevator systems on high-rise buildings or
concreting or gravel coating of flat roof buildings.
The LICCON overload system interpolates automatically the
maximum possible load capacities during jib variation. All
angular positions of the telescopic boom can be combined
with the angular positions of the swing-away jib. This even
enables the placing of loads into buildings.
