1. What is a morpheme?

Morpheme is the smallest meaningful language.

What is the morpheme that express plurality in English?

Plurality is less stable and more vague than that of singularity, which is not surprising in
English

3. Can a word contain more than one morpheme?

Word can contain more than one morpheme .

4. Define the following:


i. Free morpheme

Free morpheme while –s is a bound morpheme 


ii. Bound morpheme
 bound morpheme is used with a free morpheme to construct a complete word, as it cannot
stand independently. For example, in “The farmer wants to kill duckling,” the bound
morphemes '- er ,' 's' and 'ling' cannot stand on their own.
iii. Inflectional morpheme

Inflectional morphemes are bound morphemes which carry grammatical meaning like 'plural',
'past tense' or 'possessive'. 

5. List FIVE free morphemes.

6. Add suitable bound morphemes to the five free morphemes in Question 5 to make
meaningful words.
