ACTIVITIES
1. Read Romeo and Juliet Act V in the following website http://www.william-

following questions.

a. How does Romeo get the apothecary to sell him the poison?

Romeo told the apothecary that if he sell him the poison he will pay him a lot
of money, and the apothecary was so poor so he agree.

b. How was Friar John prevented from delivering Friar Lawrence’s letter to
Romeo?

Friar John can’t send the letter because some people thought that he was
infected with some infection that was wandering in the city, so he had to rest
in his house, but he don’t mind about the letter because he thinked that was a
friendly letter.

c. What is Paris doing at the Capulet vault?

Paris was in the Capulet vault to mourn Juliet’s death and leave flowers in her
grave. He was felling Juliet so every night he visited her tomb and leave
flowers as he might have brought her if they were married.
d. What does Paris’s visit to Juliet’s tomb suggest about his feelings for her?

That Paris was in love with Juliet and he really wanted to marry her.

e. What have you learned about determining one’s own destiny by reading
Act V of Romeo and Juliet?

I think that destiny is something of love stories and we made our “destiny” by
making our own decisions and dealing with the consequences, but Romeo
and Juliet were so in love so they thinked with their heart and no with their
brain, they thinked that destiny made them as two “star-crossed lovers” and
that was their mistake.

2. In thirty lines write a brief summary of “Romeo and Juliet – Act V”. Use your own

Romeo dreamed with Juliet when Balthazar arrives to Mantua with the
news of Juliet’s apparent suicide, so Romeo immediately go to Verona to
verify Juliet’s body , but before he goes to Verona he buys the poison from

time people believed that stars ruled over people’s fate, and that’s why he

In what way are Romeo’s words consistent with what you know of his character?
Explain.

That words describe Romeos personality when he refers to Juliet because his
character would do whatever to be with Juliet because their love was at other
level.

4. Write the ten most important events that took place in Act V. Use your own
words.
1. Romeo knows about juliet’s “death”, so he dicides to go to verona.

2. Romeo buy the poison from the apothecary.

3. The letter wasn’t delivered so Romeo don’t know about the plan.

4. Paris decided to visit juliet’s tomb.

5. Romeo arrived at juliet’s tomb, Romeo starts fighting with Paris and finally
kills Paris.

6. Romeo opens the tomb and sees juliet’s body. He drinks the poison.

7. Juliet wakes up and see romeo’s body and with his dagger she commit
suicide.

8. The prince arrives with both families. Lord montague announces his wife
death

9. Friar Lawrence tells the story of Romeo, Balthasar confirm his tale.

10. Both families and their feud. And build a statue of the yoyng lovers.

My name was Giulietta Cappello, I was born in Verona in 1284, and they called
me Juliet Capulet, when I was alive Verona was a very dangerous place. The
ruler was Grandda della scalla, the Montecchio supported the Holy roman
emperor and the Cappello supported the pope and that was the reason of the
hate of each other family. I killed myself in 1302, my remain were taken outside
of the walls because I was a suicide and when nobody knows me the ripped my
bones like garbage, there were three different stories of my life the Italian, the
French and the Shakespeare version.

6. Write five similarities and five differences between the Juliet of William
Shakespeare and the Juliet of the video “Juliet: the real story”.

a. What happened to the fireman?
He was doing a round of inspection and he goes so far away and after a
moment, they found him shaking and pale because he saw a body attached

The setting of the Phantom of the Opera is the Paris Opera House,
also known as the Palais Garnier.

c. Write three important things that happened in chapter 1.


 The ghost was following the young ladies of ballet
 They discuss about the ghost history
 Joseph Buquet died by apparently “suicide”

d. Write a short but detailed description of the ghost.


He is extremely thin and wears a black dress-coat hangs on a skeleton
frame, his head is a skull, his eyes are so deep that you only see two
black holes, he doesn’t have nose and his hair are only 3 or 4 locks on
his forehead and behind his ears.
e. In twenty five lines write a brief summary of chapter 1. Use your own

The chapter begins when the managers of the opera house Debienne and
Poligny were giving the last gala performance to mark their retirement. The
young ladies of the ballet were running away from the ghost, getting into
de dressing room of the La Sorelli, she was so superstitious so she ask to
the girls for details, for a long time there has nothing discussed in the
opera but the ghost in dress-clothes who went about the entire building,
