Self-watering system for plants

Elannie M. Alicea García ENGL4021-M03

Upcycle is the reuse of discarded objects in such a way as to create a product of higher
quality or value than the original. The Self watering system for plants is a good way to
upcycle and keep your plants hydrated while you travel. Idea taken from:

Materials:
• 1.75L plastic bottle • Measuring tape
• Dry erase marker • Soil
• Scissors and cutter • Plants or seeds
•Net and cotton fabric • Decorations and glue
1. Take off the plastic wrap of plastic bottle and draw lines with a dry

erase marker. With a cutter, make an incision in one of the inside

lines, then with the scissors cut both inside lines.

2. With the net fabric, make a circle using the wide part of the cone part

of the bottle. Mark a small hole in the middle of the circle and cut it.

3. Take three pieces of cotton fabric, make a braid, and place it

through the small hole in the net fabric.

4. Add some decorations.

5. Fill up the bottom part of the bottle with water. Place the product of

step three into the cone part and put it within the bottom part.

6. Add soil and place your plant into the cone part.

WARNING: Watch your fingers while using the cutter.
