good?

John Lloyd Cruz

Could it be true that John Lloyd Cruz is quitting show biz and leaving the country for
good? How true is it that the actor left a special power of attorney for his family’s
needs?

Reports have it that some of his endorsements have allegedly already pulled the
plug.
Last Friday, ABS-CBN issued a press statement announcing that the network and
John Lloyd “have agreed for him to take an indefinite leave of absence to attend to
personal matters.”

“John Lloyd will be taking a break outside the country and will return to ABS-CBN
after his leave of absence,” the statement said.
A network insider insists that the actor has allegedly not reported for the taping of
his show, “Home Sweetie Home,” for two weeks now.

Has John Lloyd decided on his exit strategy after his controversial Cebu-escapade
videos (which went viral) with Ellen Adarna and their friends were generally
perceived as “foolish and strange” behavior?
Maybe he got so drained and just wanted to enjoy his hard-earned money away from
prying eyes and the maddening show biz circus.

Washington, United States  — A strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the west
coast of the US State of Alaska Sunday, seismologists said, but no tsunami warning
was issued.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake struck at a depth of 111.8 kilometers
(69 miles) and 60 kilometers east of the remote Buldir Island in the Aleutian
archipelago that is home to some 8,000 people.

“Overall, the population in this region resides in structures that are resistant to
earthquake shaking, though vulnerable structures exist,” USGS said.

“There is a low likelihood of casualties and damage,” USGS added, assigning the
event a “Green alert.”

Twenty-four higher education institutions from Belgium, the Czech Republic,

Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and United
Kingdom will participate in this year’s European Higher Education Fair (EHEF), the
European Union said on Sunday.
“Education has always been and will remain a top priority for Filipinos,” EU
Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jensen said. “Many have found that the higher
education institutions in the European Union offer opportunities beyond
comparison.”

“With this year’s theme being ‘Sustaining Innovation and Excellence,’ EHEF 2017
aims to showcase both innovation in teaching and learning techniques and
curriculum par excellence of participating higher education institutions to a growing
number of prospective Filipino students,” he added.

The EU ambassador stressed that education “should not be restricted within the four
walls of the classroom,” adding that the EU gives an additional opportunity for
students.

“Through EHEF, we want to encourage all Filipino students, teachers, members of

the academe to grab this opportunity and experience diversified and excellent post-
graduate and doctorate degree programs from top-notch EU universities,” Jessen
added.

According to the ambassador, this year also marks the celebration of the 30th
anniversary of the Erasmus+ Program, an EU-funded program that gives support to
education, training, youth, and sports in Europe.

Jessen said that this year 37 Filipinos had been granted Erasmus scholarships and
were now pursuing their masters and doctorate degrees in Europe.

The fair is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines
together with the EU Member States’ Embassies and Cultural Institutions in
collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

EHEF will be held on Oct. 18 at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza in

Mandaluyong.

During the fair, participants and prospective applicants will have the chance to learn
more about the EU educational system and way of life through a series of lectures
and talks. They will also have the opportunity to talk with EU alumni volunteers.

Admission to the EHEF is free, but registration is encouraged.
