RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator.

It is an estimated measure of power

level that a RF client device is receiving from an access point or router. At larger distances,
the signal gets weaker and the wireless data rates get slower, leading to a lower overall data
throughput.

Zigbee is an IEEE 802.15.4-based specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols

used to create personal area networks with small, low-power digital radios, such as for home
automation, medical device data collection, and other low-power low-bandwidth needs, designed
for small scale projects which need wireless connection. Hence, Zigbee is a low-power, low data
rate, and close proximity (i.e., personal area) wireless ad hoc network.

is low power consumption limits transmission distances to 10–100 meters line-of-sight,

depending on power output and environmental characteristics.[2] Zigbee devices can transmit
data over long distances by passing data through a mesh network of intermediate devices to
reach more distant ones. Zigbee is typically used in low data rate applications that require long
battery life and secure networking (Zigbee networks are secured by 128 bit symmetric
encryption keys.) Zigbee has a defined rate of 250 kbit/s, best suited for intermittent data
transmissions from a sensor or input device.

Beacon frame is one of the management frames in IEEE 802.11 based WLANs. It contains all
the information about the network. Beacon frames are transmitted periodically, they serve to
announce the presence of a wireless LAN and to synchronise the members of the service set.
Beacon frames are transmitted by the access point (AP) in an infrastructure basic service
set (BSS). In IBSS network beacon generation is distributed among the stations. For the 2.4 GHz
spectrum, when having more than 15 SSIDs on overlapping channels (or more than 45 in total),
beacon frames start to consume significant amount of air time and degrade performance even
when most of the networks are idle.

experimentally measuring their positive and

negative influences on the performance metrics of beacon
period detection, i.e., false positive (FP) and false negative
(FN).

Stands for "Media Access Control Address," and no, it is not related Apple Macintosh
computers. A MAC address is a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each
device on a network.

'Folding' Algorithm. The folding algorithm makes use of the fact that the pulse from a
pulsar has a period which is extremely regular. By sampling the pulsar signal at a stable,
known rate it is possible to 'synchronously integrate' the pulsar signal in software.
