PHI TECHNOLOGY
Major Advantage
PHI Cell does not need the pollutants to travel to the air handler for UV treatment or filtration.
PHI Cell is proactive and sends ionized aggressive advanced oxidizers into the room to destroy
the pollutants at the source, in the air and on surfaces, before they can reach your family, clients
or employees.

PHI Technology Introduction in Brief

PHI Technology, the acronym for Photohydroiozination technology simulates the natural
interaction between sunlight, water, and chlorophyll to purify the air. A photosynthetic
technology as we can say, with PHI, you can let nature play inside your comfort zone. The
principle of the tech is that instead of waiting for the dust to pass through the filter, the filter
itself produces particles that find dust and sterilize them.
PHI technology is the newest innovation in the world of air filters. It is soon expected to take
over the ultra-popular HEPA filter, owing to its many benefits over the former.

How Does PHI Technology Work?

It consists of a broad-spectrum UV lamp, which directs light towards a unique quad metallic
catalyst. When the light touches the catalyst, it creates friendly oxidizers such as Hydro-
Peroxides, Superoxide Ions and Hydroxide Ions. By friendly oxidizers we mean oxidizers which
revert to oxygen and hydrogen after oxidizing the pollutant. This entire process is known as
Advanced Oxidation Process. This hydroperoxides will mix up with supply air and distributed
to the entire cubic foot of occupied space air. Every time the hydroperoxide comes in contact
with bacteria, viruses, mold forms, VOCs and odours it breaks downs and destroys the air
contaminants on the spot. So, PHI cell is literally purifying every cubic foot of air in the occupied
space.
These oxidizers are abundant in nature, and they are responsible for keeping the forest air
clean, killing bacteria, and deactivating viruses.

Safety
Oxidation is technically defined as the losing or the giving up of an electron. Controlled
oxidation is an excellent way to destroy organics such as odours, viruses, bacteria, VOC’s and
mold. Hydroperoxides are known as Mother Nature’s natural, enviro- friendly cleaning agent.
Ionized hydrogen peroxides are responsible for the air smelling so clean after a thunderstorm.
Typical indoor levels of hydroperoxides run between .01 to .02 ppm when PHI cells are turned
on. The OSHA standard 1910.1000 sets a permissible exposure limit of 1 ppm for hydrogen
peroxide, so the indoor levels are well below the OSHA safety limits.

Now, .01 ppm may not sound like a lot, but there are approximately 177,000,000,000,000,000
hydroperoxide gas molecules in a single litre of air, which means they are close to one micron
apart. So, bacteria, odours, viruses, VOCs, mold, etc. do not have to go far to be hit with one
and destroyed. Hydroperoxide gas at levels of .01 ppm are now recognized by the EPA as an
effective infection control and microbial treatment technology.

Sneeze test
A testing protocol concept was used which included a “Sneeze simulation Machine” and
“Sneeze” chamber. A sneeze can travel up to 100 mph, therefore lung capacity, sneeze
pressure, and liquid volume had to be monitored to properly simulate a human sneeze. This
was accomplished and the test proceeded with outstanding results. An average of 78%
reduction of microbials was achieved with PHI Cell in a double-blind test, at 3 feet from the
sneeze source. This is clearly not a medically supervised test or protocol. However, from a

practical point, it was providing some kill at the source and will provide some level of
protection.
