Probable Causes
• Fuel quality

• Valve lash

• Fuel injection nozzles

Recommended Actions
Fuel Quality
Check the fuel quality. Remove unsatisfactory fuel from the fuel tank. Install new fuel filters. Use the
proper grade of clean fuel in the fuel tank.

Valve Lash
Refer to Troubleshooting, "Excessive Valve Lash".

Fuel Injection Nozzles

1. Remove the fuel injection nozzles from the cylinder head. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,
"Fuel Injection Nozzle - Remove".

2. Visually inspect the fuel injection nozzles. If a fuel injection nozzle has a suspected fault,
replace the fuel injection nozzle.

3. Ensure that the repairs have eliminated the fault.
