The Case of Senator Sotto

Senator Sotto was onced accused of plagiarism when having a speech for the RH Bill. He claimed that
he did not plagiarized since he only got it from a blogger but then, the Chief of Staff Atty. Hector Villacorta
admitted that they copied the work of the blogger Ms. Sarah Pope. Also, they found out that Sotto’s staff
writers also plagiarized from different websites for his second speech. Atty. VIllacorta and especially Sen. Sotto
received a lot of criticisms from trhe netizens calling him “stupid” and “arrogant”

Whatever a speech or blog it is, it is never correct to get someone’s ideas and intellectual property
without the author or proprietor’s consent before using it. Because no one is above the law.
