Structures to arrange your ideas in a compare and

contrast paragraph
The Block Method: This is a way to copmare and contrast two subjects. One
subject is completely compared and contrasted before moving on to the next
subject. E.g: a fish has scales and is able to swim in salt or fresh water. They also
have gills which are used to help them receive oxygen. A mammal can live on land
or in water. They have lungs to help them breathe, and they have skin or fur.

The Point by Point method: A method used to compare and contrast two
subjects. The two subjects focus on specific points to compare to each other at one
time. E.g: Fish live in salt or fresh water, while mammals can live in land or water.
Fish have gills to take oxygen in, but mammals have lung to receive oxygen in the
body. Fish, also, have scales while mammals have skin or fur.
