Introduction

The Pearl is a book written by John Steinbeck in 1944. This book is more about the
bad luck in my opinion. Kino (the main character of the story) and his family are
poor, when they got their son bitten by a scorpion, they didn’t have the economic
resources to take the son to the doctor, when kino finds “The Pearl” they thought
their life would change in that moment, but It changed in the bad way. That way
the writer uses that to make us see that the money doesn’t always help in the
good way, it may be and attraction for many other bad situations.
Using the point of view of a poor man,

Opinion
This is he first novel I had ever read, and was a great experience, I really like the
atmosphere that it creates combining a lot of different emotions. The way that
the writer uses one of a common problem in many families, and it made me think
what would I do in that situation, being that one of the things that I liked the most
of this John Steinbeck novel.

Critic
I don’t have any critics about this novel, one of the things that I didn’t like that
much, was the ending, the way that the “disaster” or the drastic change that the
story took by the death of “coyotito” (Kino’s son), was something that took me by
surprise, but not all the stories have happy endings.
