9. 1st Application
a. If client has gray hair, start in front left section. Apply on regrowth only, from scalp to
line of demarcation.
b. If client has no gray hair, start in the darkest and most resistant area. Begin application
on the top left back section. Taking ¼” sub partings, apply on regrowth only, from scalp
to line of demarcation.
c. Be cautious to not overlap, as this will cause banding from color build-up on those
overlapped areas.
d. Repeat same color application on other back section.
e. Apply color to remaining front sections using diagonal-back partings; subdivide for
control.
f. Re-apply around the hairline, ensuring coverage, and bring hair down.
g. Cross-check to ensure accurate product application and saturation.
h. Remove any color stains on skin.
i. Process color according to manufacturer’s instructions.
10. Perform first strand test to check for 100% development of desired color.
11. Optional 2nd Application: Perform a soap cap with equal parts oxidized color and shampoo.
Notice the amount of remaining oxidized color in the tint bowl. Pour the same amount of color
safe shampoo (1:1 ratio) into the tint bowl; work into a lather in your hands, then shampoo the
mixture into the client’s hair for 5-10 minutes to refresh faded color and blend the line of
demarcation. Condition and rinse as usual.
12. Rinse with tepid water, shampoo gently with color safe shampoo and conditioner. Towel dry
hair and change towel and chemical cape to neck strip and styling cape.
13. Blowdry and style as desired.
14. Retail. Rebook. Client card.
15. Clean up.
