Madness:
- Тhe state of having a serious mental illness.
- Еxtremely foolish behaviour.
- А state of wild or chaotic activity.
- А feeling of intense anger
- Оbsolete terms for legal insanity
- Аn acute viral disease of the nervous system of warm-blooded animals (usually transmitted by
the bite of a rabid animal); rabies is fatal if the virus reaches the brain.
Female hysteria was once a common medical diagnosis for women, which was described as
exhibiting a wide array of symptoms, including anxiety, shortness of breath, fainting,
nervousness, sexual desire, insomnia, fluid retention, heaviness in the abdomen, irritability, loss
of appetite for food or sex. It is no longer recognized by medical authorities as a medical
disorder.

Eliza (Kate Beckinsale) - diagnosed with Hysteria and Edward (Jim Sturgess) as a
doctor of psychiatry in Stonehearst accompanied by other staff and patients, they play the
thriller/drama by Edgar Allan Poe, adapted by the director Brad Anderson through the course of
events at the psychiatric hospital. At the climax, changing the hierarchy of the characters
increases the intensity of the dramaticity of the actions, while the thriller of events tempts us to
the correct conclusion to the actions.
Events have been shown to take a different position on viewpoints, thoughts and judgments,
and even to ask ourselves multiple times to come up with self-criticism in order to present the
definitions of insanity, patients, judgments about them, as well as methods and their reliability of
treatment.
From the beginning to the end the boundary is set between what is crazy and what is not by
changing the perspective of the point of view. From one angle insanity seems proper and
increasingly brings us closer to the controversy of the word insanity as it is understood and
defined, and whether the holders of this title are properly treated and assisted by the procedures
and methods applied to them or on the contrary they guide them to the so-called notion.
The main dilemma leads to " whether our perception of normality allows us to apply insanity to
someone to bring it to our normality ."

Madness - part of the psychological disorder of behavior, to varying degrees present in

everyone, many times differently defined both socially and medically but controversially and
interestingly shown through the actions of Eliza and Edward as well as the interesting thesis of
the professor who advises his students to believe nothing they hear and only half of what they
see - does not mean that in everyday life.
