What are your top three takeaways from John Green’s course, Navigating Digital

Information? Explain why each of these takeaways is important when conducting internet
research/using the internet to acquire information.
My first takeaway from John Greens course about Navigating Digital Information is in
order to look for reliable and accurate data/evidence/information we must laterally read. This is
important because the more website/article verify that piece of information, the more likely it is
to be accurate(true).
Another one of my takeaways is how to verify if an article, photo, or videos is a
hoax/conspiracy. This is important when conducting researching on the internet because often
times, many photos and videos are edited and spread false information around. This causes many
people to believe false information, which could affect their real-life decisions.
My last takeaway from this course is to spend time looking through search results and
scroll through multiple websites when searching for information. This is important because
search engine websites like google do not show results based on what is reliable or credible. This
means we must look through multiple search results, including the second page, and not just
click on the first search result.
What are your top three takeaways from your time implementing the state’s social
distancing initiatives (learning from home)?Explain why this was an important idea to
learn.
My first takeaway from my experience distance learning is that even though it may seem
we have a lot of time to do work and accomplish our goals we still need to schedule out our time.
This is important because I often find myself procrastinating on work because I have a lot of
time to do it. However, I end up doing my work last minute which causes me a lot of stress and
anxiety. When we schedule out our time and set a routine, it is easier to accomplish our goals.
My second takeaway is to discipline yourself when times get tough and when situations
change. This is important because life will always through obstacle in your way and the plan you
had for your future may be halted/altered. When this happens, we often find ourselves
overwhelmed because we do not like when things change, however change is inevitable. We
must find ways to adapt to our new situations and be disciplined.
My last takeaway from my experience in distance learning is to be patient. This is
especially important in our current situation because we must stay in quarantine in order to halt
the spread of the virus. We must be patient for social gathering to be safe again. However,
patience is not only important for quarantine, it is also important throughout our lives. We live in
a world where everything is instant and automatic, when things do not happen right away, we
often get frustrated and angry. But, their will be situations throughout our lives where we must
wait and be patient in order to get results, so by practicing patience, we will be prepared when
those situations arise.
