Unstoppable Passion

(Reflection: In front of the Class)

‘‘Never stops believing what others can do and do not let anyone stops you from chasing
your dreams” This is what I realized after watching the inspirational story of Brad Cohen. It was
an inspirational story that made me realized what I have been experiencing right now is nothing
compares to Brad Cohen. His story is important especially for anyone who has difficulties seeing
around obstacles in their path in achieving what they truly want to do in life. It is a story for
every underdog, for everyone who has ever stumbled in life, for anyone who thinks life has dealt
them a little more than they can handle. Brad Cohen’s story is more than just conquering
personal conflicts, but it’s about how the person changes reality through the power of his mind.
Despite his syndrome, he is unstoppable to do what he loves the most and that is teaching.

After watching the movie, I realized that being a teacher is the best profession in the
world. The teacher should bring passion to the classroom. They should make learning come to
life and engage students to be the best persons they can be. They must never give up on their
students. We must embrace people’s differences and support them to be the best they can be.
Like Brad Cohen’s mother, who constantly and consistently motivates and encourages him to not
give up, teachers also need to be that role model and show their kids to never give up on
pursuing their dreams. Building a relationship with students is also important because if the child
does not trust his teacher then the teacher won’t be able to teach the child (Cohen). But once the
teacher gets to know the children, and what motivates them, the teacher can support them and
help them find success in the classroom.

I recognize what the school taught me is an essential process to become the best teacher-
a knowledgeable and skillful teacher. But I also see that being a knowledgeable and skillful
teacher is not enough. Yes, it is essential and important but it’s more than that. A teacher needs
to go beyond knowledge. They need to use their intuition, their sincerity towards their students.
They need to show a positive and warm attitude towards them to stimulates learning, and most
especially believe them on what they can do even if they do not see it to themselves. One day, all
the knowledge and skills you have shared will be forgotten but they will never forget with their
whole life that there is one person who believes and stand for him, and that is you his/her
teacher.
