Hello Parents! The novel Coronavirus outbreak of 2020 has necessitated the move
to online learning, which is difficult both on parents and students. These
resources have been compiled to help you and your student engage in curriculum
subject matter in an entertaining way!

1. NOVA Teachers: Earth Science is a free resource that you and your student
can use to explore different labs that your student may have missed out on
in class. Each lab contains instructions, worksheets, and explanations that
you and your student will find educational and engaging! Suggested Labs:
Lightning Lab, Wave that Shook the World, Fall of the Leaning Tower, and
NOVA ScienceNOW: Hurricanes.

2. SciJinks is a free resource brought to you by NOAA. SciJinks has a lot of


functions, ranging from articles to games this website is sure to engage!
SciJinks is all about meteorology, it covers topics like weather, clouds,
weather and climate satellites, and even space weather!

3. Hawaii Space Grant Consortium, many states have Space Grant


Consortiums, they generally consist of an outside organization partnered
with a university and NASA. The Hawaii Space Grant Consortium put
together a list of over 25 space related activities, that are totally out of this

Cake Batter Lava! Check out the Virginia Space Grant Consortium for
Opportunities in your area!

4. Exploring Climate Change, this puzzle piece exploration of topics could keep
you and your student busy for hours! This collection of modules covers
different climate change related topics from volcanoes to animal
populations! It is a super cool way to explore the world around you!

5. Have you ever visited a planetarium? Well here is your chance to have your
very own! Stellarium is a planetarium software that major planetariums all
over the world use, and they have an online program just for you! Stellarium
Online allows you to explore the night sky in your local area, you can find
constellations, look for nebulas, or even Galaxies!
