INTRODUCTION

The "past perfect" refers to a time before the recent past. It is used to indicate that one event
occurred before another in the past. It does not matter which of the events is mentioned first,
because the verb tense makes clear the temporal order in which they occurred. The continuous
perfect past is used to speak of a continuous action in the past that started and continued until a
later past action occurred.

2. CONCLUSION

Past perfect continuous, or past perfect progressive, allows identifying the progression of an action in
the past. It is formed with the past tense of the auxiliary verb has, the participle of the verb be, and the
gerund of the main verb: had + been + -ing.
The past perfect tense is used to describe: actions that ended before another past action or event
Facts or experiences that were true before a past action or event.
