Why reading Fiction is great?

I disagree with the statement that says that people should read only those books
that are about real events, real people and established facts because fiction helps
you improve your imagination, transport you to other places in your mind and helps
you empathize. Now let me explain more each of my reasons.

When you are reading a fiction book your brain is in charge of creating those
fascinating and enchantress scenarios and characters that are being describe in
the pages, you are given a direction, but you create the path. It is amazing how
everyone can get a different sense of the same reading because of their
imagination and if you read this type of books constantly I am sure your creativity
will increase a lot.

The fact that reading fiction can transport you to other places makes your brain to
have a period of disengagement that helps us rest our cognitive capabilities and
get back to peak functionality. This means that this is very effective for stress.
Maybe if you had a bad day you could consider reading a little bit of fiction before
going to bed so you can enjoy a better sleep.

It may sound a little weird but there have been studies that proved that by reading
fiction you can empathize more with others. These studies have shown that
imagining stories helps activate the regions of your brain responsible for better
understanding others and seeing the world from a new perspective. It is also said
that reading fiction helps you understand others’ mental states. And as we know
empathy is a fundamental quality for having good interpersonal relationships.

In conclusion reading fiction brings you lots of benefits. Real fact books will always
be great for studying and having a bigger cultural knowledge, but you cannot stay
just with those types of books. Fiction is something that as it name suggest, takes
you out of reality and the journey the books can make you have will be very funny
and interesting, so don’t doubt in giving them a try you could end up loving them
just as I do.
