Detail Methodology of Premix Carpet Road in Nepal
Detail Methodology of Premix Carpet Road in Nepal
1. General survey of alignment purposed portion to know about the length and tentative obstacle
over there
2. Site Clearance : It involve site clearance in the alignment portion ie removal of trees, bushes etc and
excavation of existing condition and disposing up to 20 m lead .Excavation may be 0.20 m depth
generally.
3. Levelling of Subgrade is carried out. The top level of subgrade is termed as formation level. If we
maintain the correct levelling during subgrade construction phase, it makes efficient in above layer
construction. Subgrade :Up to 300 mm below formation level is designated as “subgrade”. Materials
for use in the subgrade shall not contain particles larger than 60 mm
7. Application of prime coat : before the application of prime coat in the base layer. It is to be noted
that base layer must be clean by brooming and spraying with water to dampen the surface but in no
case the surface shall be made saturated so that dampness is uniform.
Bituminous prime coat MC30 / MC70 Bitumen is used. For this , (Boiler, Sprayer, Air compressor is
required). Estimation is done of ltr/m2
8. Application of Tack coat : Providing and spraying bituminous tack coat MC30/MC70 Bitumen
including cleaning the road surface using wire, brushes, broom etc.all complete before applying tack
coat. (SS1301,SS1302)
9. Providing and laying semi-grouting with compaction 50mm thickness.[Spc 1301,1304] : semi grout is
usually provided in hilly areas road where is temperature is minimum.
10. Providing, mixing, laying, compaction etc. all complete of bitumenous premixed carpet. (SS 1307, SS
1308)
Material required for premix carpet road are bitumen, kerosene, diesel, coarse agg, key aggregate.
>>>note: Rolling is carried out from edge from road and extend towards the center of road.
Temperature during laying should be 140 c and during compaction should be 120 C
