The discussion post comprehensively explain the three types of research methods. For

example, the stated characteristics of mixed research methods provided the in-depth

understanding of the subject matter. The use of relying qualitative and quantitative research

methods is an effective technique, though mixed research methods provide a more flexible way

of achieving the desired objectives. In short, mixed-research methods has the ability to navigate

between different possibilities to reduce the demerits of using both other methods, and

simultaneously, allowing efficiency by increasing the merits of qualitative and quantitative

methods. The use of mixed-research methods primarily owes to the fact that there are various

problems, which can be overcome with combination of two methods; instead of relying on one of

the other two methods. The last section defines the way each design relates to methods, that is,

fixed design for qualitative, flexible design for mixed-research.

Robson & McCartan (2016) argued that the research design strategy is an important

element in any research because the complete research process is dependent on this component.

The different research methods like fixed, flexible, and multi-strategy enable a researcher to

complete research in a strategic way to ascertain targeted objectives. The important

distinguishing aspect of the fixed and flexible research methods is the heavy reliance on

quantitative and qualitative, respectively. Henceforth, multi-strategy accommodate best of the

both because it utilizes the needed one when required. Overall, the discussion is precisely written

in a way it allows clear understanding of one definition from another and the very each heading

for definition is followed by a comparison analysis. Research methods is an important part of the

to practical life.
