RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Design and Description

The multifunction pedal powered desk is shown in Plate 1. The machine is

composed of six main parts; the pedal, the driven wheel, the dynamo, the battery, the

inverter, the desk and the movable chair. To come up into the specific output all of this

must be out together.

The design was in accordance to the principles learned in various mechanical

engineering subjects mainly Machine Elements and Machine Design?. The use of

flexible connectors – belts and chains -

The Driven Wheel

The multifunction pedal powered desk is being operated by the force exerted by

the user in the pedal. The amount of electricity produced or generated by pedaling is

being tested, this is to prove that the designed multifunction pedal powered desk produces

a sufficient amount of power to run the machine.

Dynamo? Alternator ?

The

Battery
The battery is a storage device in which electricity being developed in the dynamo

The Desk

The desk is a flat table style work surface used for reading, writing, and using

equipment such as computer.

The Movable Chair

The movable chair was designed to allow/able the user to adjust the chair to work

conveniently/comfortably. It was also designed as foldable

Construction Procedure

Before fabrication, the researchers made an extensive research and analysis of a

design needed to pursue the Multi-Function Pedal Powered Desk. Upon deciding which

process this machine would follow, the researchers started to choose which possible

material could aid different functions as mention above.

The assembly of the machine frame was made of rectangular tube with 2 inches

by 1 inch width, steel pipe with a diameter of 1 inch and angle bar with 1 inch width.

These materials are welded together to secure rigid connection between joints.
