Mirror-Images/Plane-Mirror-Interactive
Instructions to complete this
practice activity: 1. Go to the Physics Classroom link above. It is an interactive activity on making
virtual images.
2. Start with Part 1. Click on the grey arrow when it is available to advance.
Answer the questions that pop up.
3. Continue on to Part 2. Click on the grey arrow when it is available to advance.
Answer the questions that pop up.
4. On the last page of Part 2 of the simulation, you will find a summary page. Fill
in the four points of notes below:
5. “Congratulations! You have completed this tutorial. You have learned the
following:
○ light rays are emitted by objects in all directions

○ the light rays bounce off into your eyes

○ your eye focuses on diverging rays

○ it is necessary to ray diagram every single point of an object

6. Advance to the final slide. The original page should now be visible with yellow
checks over each of the two parts. Take a screenshot of this page and paste it
here to prove that you have completed the simulation and questions.

Conclusion Questions:

7. Are the virtual images flipped vertically (meaning they are upside down)? no

8. Are the virtual images flipped horizontally (meaning the left and right are switched)?
they are

Tips for completing this If the activity window is very small on your screen, you can click on the top-left corner
practice activity: to make it full screen, or click and drag the lower right-hand corner to make it a little
larger.
