Leadership Characteristic
Initiative: This is when you see
something that needs to be done,
and you do it without the necessity
of anyone to ask you to do it.
Having initiative establishes you
as a leader, independent from your
position, and you are known as
someone that can be trusted, and
that will do everything necessary
to complete the job.
My Strengths
Rationale
Having initiative is meaningful to me, given the
particular vocation of nursing. We must start from a
series of personal characteristics that establish the
starting point to become true leaders in our
professional field and come to unite the idea of a
leader to present new ideas and changes to better our
practices.

Pressure Ulcers

ulcers (Decubitus Ulcers)
NPSG.14.01.01: Asses and periodically reassess each
resident’s risk for developing a pressure ulcer and

The correlation as a leader and taking the initiative to
form a "turn team" at an LTAC facility to minimize
the risk of developing pressure ulcers by mandating
to reposition and turn the patients every 1 to 2 hours.

Integrity is meaningful because, as a leader, you have
the power and ability to influence the nurse in her or
his professional development. Therefore, if the nurse
is not able to control the patient to accept their care
and change their habits, they will not achieve
complete professional development while standing
for what is right for the patient.
Perseverance is meaningful because the nursing
leader must be in permanent personal renewal, to be
possessed of a comprehensive and in-depth personal
and professional knowledge, to be imaginative and
full of will power, courageous, disciplined, creative.
