Notes
● Elliot was reading Put Me In the Zoo on “Hawaiian Book” day you can listen to here if you’d like to.

● On Tuesday, students will be playing Roll, Say, Keep with their sight word cards, please cut some
or all of the cards out (especially the page with the new sight words). I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to
cut out the cards; unfortunately, the lamination may make it tricky for the kids to cut on a straight
line and would be best cut by a parent. They will be using these cards to play the Llama Roll, Say,
Keep game and to use for flash cards when practicing reading and spelling words. I am so proud of
how hard everyone has worked on their cutting this year, but I would appreciate if they practiced on
the “cutting practice” papers and not the playing cards, letter tiles, and addition/subtraction cards.
Thank you!

● Only some of my reading groups have practiced the reading comprehension worksheet (and
Wednesday’s sequencing worksheet). They may need help the first time they complete this sheet
(or with a couple of the words – new, her, happy – and the questions). Please have them read the
text in its entirety at least one time before looking at the questions. If they need to read through it a
couple of times, that’s ok. If they get too frustrated, set it aside and wait until later that day or
another day (and please let me know).

● One of our math activities for Thursday will be Subtraction Smash. Students will use playdough to
help practice math facts. If you do not have playdough, your child can skip that activity. However,
our art teacher, Mrs. Arms, sent an email earlier this week that included a recipe for playdough. If
you have the ingredients, making their own would be a fun activity to do as well.

● For extra reading material your child may use the Epic login that was emailed (please let me know
if you were unable to sign up).
