Coastal structures play an essential role and are crucial for the stability and the
development of our coastal environment. Coastal engineers strive to prevent the
damage and destruction caused by waves and erosion. Breakwater, seawalls, and revetments are some of the structures constructed by coastal engineers to control erosion. Knowledge about this may help in preventing destructive erosion. Coastal erosion is one of the major problems in coastal cities and areas. If the coasts are not protected or managed, it may negatively impact the growth of the country. A large amount of income is generated from the coastal sectors in the form of tourism, imports, and exports. This may affect job opportunities in the country. If the coastal areas are not managed, the total employment from this sector will decrease which will impact the economy of the country. It preserves the coastal residential areas and prevents them from the damage and dangers of flooding. Inlets and channels can improve the quality of the water and prevent the loss of marine habitat and are necessary for maintaining the ecosystem in the marine land.
