PRODUCT QUALITY CHECK

Quality Management STEEL STRUCTURES

What to check?
Structural steel
- Approved make.
- Verification of mill TC for correlation (or) test w.r.t. Code / specification
contractually agreed.
- Visual inspection –pits, corrosion, cracks on the surface, deformities
- Dimensional inspection- Size, thickness, comparing w.r.t. Rolling margin.
- Colour coding of materials (if required).
- Test certificates for special tests (Other than routine tests), if contracted.

Fasteners
-Approved make
- Verification of MTC for correlation (or) test w.r.t. code / specification contractually
agreed.
- Dimensional inspection- Size, Thread Quality, Crack by visual.

Paint
- Contracts review: - whether the purpose of paint will solve the purpose?
e.g. Heat resistant, acid resistant paints are required?
-Primer –approved brand, Conformity to contractual / code provision
- Paint (Finish coats)-Approved brand, Conformity to contractual / code provision,
Approved shade.
- Check expiry dates for NDT liquids
- Verify the TC for Electrodes.
