Your Worship Mayor Ackerman & City Councillors:

On behalf of the North Peace Pride Society, the Board hereby requests that Fort St John City Council proclaim
the week commencing Sunday, May 31st, 2020 as Pride Week in the City of Fort St John.

The proclamation by the City both recognizes and promotes Fort St John as a community which celebrates
diversity and inclusiveness, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. The Pride Society appreciates the
continued support by City Council, as 2020 marks the fifth anniversary of the North Peace Pride Society. We
are proud to call Fort St John our home.

In recognition of Pride Week, we would ask that the City fly the Pride Flag in front of City Hall for the week,
starting Sunday, May 31st.

Unfortunately, given restrictions in place around the COVID19 pandemic, we have had to cancel this year’s
Pride Walk and Festival. We look forward to hosting the event at Centennial Park next year, on Saturday, June
5th, 2021. The Pride Society is exploring doing a “drive-by auto parade” on Saturday, June 6th, 2020. Additional
details are to be finalized.

The North Peace Pride Society is looking to host a Pride Dance at the Curling Club Lounge on Saturday,
September 12th, 2020, should circumstances permit.

Finally, in 2021, in coordination with the City, the Pride Society is looking to produce banners for lamp
standards around the recreation complex, in celebration of Pride Week.
