The Gamma Finder® II probe is best suited
for Sentinel Node and Parathyroid Localiza-
tion in Surgical Oncology. Its unique design
puts simplicity and accuracy at the surgeon’s
fingertips. The Gamma Finder® II probe
will detect and give a numerical indication
and an acoustic signal when in proximity
of a gamma ray emitting source. Once the
sentinel node or gland location has been
detected, the wireless Gamma Finder® II
probe can be set down within the sterile
field without interfering with the opera-
tive procedure’s progress. This enables the
surgeon to easily reexamine or confirm any
location already detected without help from
the assistant.
Push any button and the Gamma Finder® II
probe automatically powers up and begins
counting gamma rays emitted by 57Co,
99m
TC, 123I, 111In, or 131I radio pharmaceutical
isotopes. To activate the 10-second count
feature, simply depress the “C” button and
the Gamma Finder® II probe will average 10
consecutives counts or, if you desire, provide
you with a cumulative 10-second count.
For Binary Pitch Mode, simply push the “B”
button and the Gamma Finder® II probe will
automatically establish a baseline, and beep
only when the threshold is reached.
Wireless
The Gamma Finder® II probe is the only
wireless hand-held probe on the market
today. Compact, lightweight and versatile,
the Gamma Finder® II probe is easily trans-
ported from operating room to operating
room in its own sturdy carrying case.
The Gamma Finder® II probe is constructed
to perform for up to 300 hours, represent-
ing a full year of usage for most institu-
tions. Twenty hours in advance, the device
will notify you that it is time for a battery
exchange, which is performed by the manu-
facturer within a couple of days. At the same
time the device will be serviced and newly
calibrated.
Simple set-up and clean-up
Setting up the Gamma Finder® II probe con-
sists of simply slipping the device into its own
custom-designed disposable sterile sleeve and
depressing any button. Following the case,
simply remove the Gamma Finder® II probe
from the sterile sleeve and place it into the
specially-designed carrying case, where it
goes to sleep — battery saving mode —
until the next case.
