Mr. Muhammad Touhidul Islam, Superintendent of Police, Gaibandha said that some
people who returned from Dhaka, Narayanganj were placed in institutional quarantine in
Saghata, and Fulchhari. Police are always working to deal with Kovit-19 including
maintaining social distance and some people in home quarantine. Police members are also
being attacked. Yesterday, a police sergeant returned home from Rangpur Kovit-19 after
recovering. Police members are working at extreme risk. Arrangements have been made in
the police line to keep the police members in quarantine. Market shops are opening as per the
government decision. Police will be responsible for implementing government directives in
every market. The movement of people from Rangpur to gaibandha is being controlled due to
high corona infection in Rangpur.
Mr. Shah Masud Jahangir Kabir, Mayor Gaibandha Municipality said that gaibandha
has been opening shops since May 10 as per the government decision.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce Gaibandha drew the attention of all
concerned to conduct business in accordance with the hygiene rules. New drugs have been
introduced to kill mosquitoes to prevent dengue. Spray activities will be started with 10
machines for testing. A massive dengue prevention campaign will be launched from
tomorrow as officials are busy in distributing relief.
Mr. Md. Ataur Rahman, Chairman, District Council, Gaibandha and Adviser, District
Corona Prevention and Control Committee said that assistance has been provided by the
District Council for Corona Prevention. In the same way, the district council will provide
assistance in preventing dengue. There are staffs from the district council and the Red
Crescent Society, the mayor said, adding that co-operation will be provided to prevent
dengue as per the demand of Gaibandha.
Chairman, Upazila Parishad Gaibandha said the decision was taken after a meeting
with the chairmen of 13 unions to take effective measures to prevent dengue and now it is
awaiting for implementation. Gaibandha Sadar Upazila Parishad will work to prevent dengue
in all unions.
Mr. Farhad Abdullah Harun Bablu, Acting President, Gaibandha District Branch of
Bangladesh Awami League said that last year Gaibandha Municipality needed to spray
mosquito repellent in the neighborhood to prevent dengue. He advised everyone to be aware
even if the shop is open in the current situation.
Dr. Md. Matiar Rahman, President BMA Gaibandha District Branch said that corona
is under control in Gaibandha district as a result of the steps taken by the Deputy
Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Civil Surgeon since the beginning of corona
infection. Doctors of Gaibandha district are providing medical services to the patients.
All private clinics are providing medical services to patients including operations.
Private doctors are providing medical services to patients. The government has recruited
2,000 doctors and 4,500 nurses, while the MT (Lab) recruitment process is underway.
Samples of Corona patients are collected by MT (Lab).
All the esteemed members present at the meeting stressed on the importance of
distribution of eaflets with extensive miking in cities and rural areas for prevention of corona
as well as prevention of dengue keeping their respective institutions / houses clean and tidy at
all times. After detailed discussion and review in the meeting, the following decisions were
unanimously adopted.
The President said that in the interest of preventing corona and keeping economic activities
afloat, the Cabinet Division requested all concerned to abide by the rules and regulations
issued by the Ministry of Commerce. At the same time, he sought the cooperation of all for
the prevention of dengue. As there was no further discussion in the meeting, he wished good
luck to the members present and announced the end of the meeting.
