Implementation Status and Key Decisions

Following the Mid Term Review (MTR) which was concluded in October 2019, it has been agreed to restructure the project, including the addition of
a farmer outreach program to enable farmers to meet the quality requirement of agro-processors which have received matching grants under the
project, and to expand the geographic scope of Component 2 (under the Ministry of Agriculture) to a further four districts. The restructuring is
expected to be completed by end of May, 2020.
The curfew and resulting restrictions on movement but is place to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, have led to some disruption of project activities,
those these are relatively minor as at no time did the government halt farming activities. The project, under component 2, has contributed to the
Covid-19 response by switching some resources to the production of several critical food security crops, and associated seed and planting material,
using the existing and new farmer pilots. Despite the curfew, the international TA supporting the Ministry of Agriculture has completed its Feasibility
Study which is currently under review.
