In Virginia Beach, we don't experience very many hurricanes but we always need to be

prepared for the impact that they could have on our area.
Places like New Orleans, the Outer Banks, Texas, and others have been devastated by
hurricanes in the past that completely rocked their city. This is a possibility for Virginia Beach
because it is a low lying area and we experience major flooding.
Here are some ways that YOU can be prepared:
● Have flood insurance
● Know what zone you live in and how bad it floods
● Stay updated on the news. How close the hurricane is and if you need to evacuate
● Always keep documents in a safe place and back them up digitally
● Make sure your house is capable of taking on a storm like keeping the gutters clean and
making sure everything is secure
