“Healthy At Work”

Attn KACI Associates,

Healthy at Work is a phased approach to reopen Kentucky’s economy. It is based on criteria set by public health
experts and advice from industry experts. Each phase will be rolled out in steps to ensure the Commonwealth’s
citizens can safely return to work while still protecting the most vulnerable Kentuckians.

Before any reopening began, Governor Beshear determined whether Kentucky met certain public health
benchmarks for reopening Kentucky’s economy. These benchmarks are based on the White House’s Guidelines
for Reopening America.
There are specific requirements the various industries in the state of Kentucky must follow before they can open
their doors and resume operations.

While the list of requirements for all industries is quite extensive and cover a very broad list of subjects, the
following guidelines are specific to manufacturing, distribution and supply chain businesses;
▪ They must continue telework as much as possible and enforce social distancing. Employees must wear
masks, which employers must provide for free.
▪ Customers will be encouraged to wear masks or face coverings, and businesses can choose to refuse
service to people who do not wear them.
▪ Businesses must supply hand sanitizer for employees and customers. They must restrict common areas
like waiting rooms and break rooms, check employees’ temperatures daily, and make sure employees
with COVID-19 symptoms get tested.
▪ They must also designate a "Healthy at Work" officer, or an employee who makes sure they are
complying with the guidelines. Each industry has specific guidelines.
▪ Manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain businesses must stagger schedules for work shifts, breaks,
and lunches. They must reduce the use of lockers, locker rooms, and changing rooms. They also need to
clean shared touched surfaces like equipment door handles at least every two to three hours.

In response to these expectations placed on manufacturing, KACI has implemented the following;

▪ Social distancing is a forced practice in all common areas. Face masks are now part of standard PPE
when on the shop floor and must been worn in all areas when talking to prevent the spread of mouth
droplets.
▪ All visitors to the plant must adhere to the same protocols as our employees. Masks will be provided to
all visitors and temperature readings will be conducted.
▪ Hand sanitizer stations can be found throughout the plant, in all common areas, rest rooms, conference
rooms and time clock stations. Temperature checks are conducted daily at the beginning of each shift
and throughout the day if an associate complains of sickness. The cafeteria has been revamped to force
social distancing when used – tables and chairs have been removed and those remaining are spaced
strategically at 6 feet from each other.
▪ The Healthy At Work officers for KACI are HR Director, Don Woolridge and Environmental Health and
Safety Specialist, Mike Darst.

▪ An additional set of breaks and lunch have been added to our normal schedule with a 3-minute interval
between each to allow for smooth traffic flow and to mitigate to potential for unnecessary interpersonal
interactions. Lockers and locker rooms are now restricted until further notice. Associates will need to
clear out their lockers upon returning to work. Lunches and small personal bags may be taken to the
work cells for the time being – more communication will be provided in upcoming weeks.

Please reach out the Human Resource department if you have any questions regarding the information in this
memo.
