SENIOR PROJECT SELF-EVALUATION

Directions: Utilize this worksheet to help evaluate yourself and your project. Be as complete
and descriptive as possible. This self-evaluation should give the scoring team a clear picture of
what you accomplished in your project.

Name - Project Start Date – Second Semester, 2020

Title of Project - Project Completion Date -

• In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the
impact of your project?

My project benefits those who regularly listen to podcasts. It achieves this by informing those about the
topic in the first place, giving people 3 seperate yet similar points of view on how music and art can effect
someone. It also gives those, who just want to take away a new thought provoking idea, some
entertainment.

• In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

This project challenged me by being dynamic. There were times during episode podcasts that I had to
think of something to keep the conversation flowing in a way that was natural, and without any
stagnation. I had to keep my plans open to my guest speakers, and have them interview when it was best
for them, rather than myself. I also had to keep in mind about what information each guest speaker knew,
so I had to come up with varied questions for each of the speakers, rather than just ask the same ones the
same thing.

• List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project.

• Acting while talking. I learned how to not sound like I want to be somewhere else, I was loud, but
not low and lazy while discussing.
• I enhanced my skills on using Audacity, and now can run through and edit audio fairly quickly
• How to upload a podcast online, and how much struggle there can be with doing so.
• Learned how to listen and continue on with the thoughts of those I'm talking with
• Learned how to manage my time on each episode, and plan things out ahead of time, without the
podcast being too long or mundane.
• List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly
describe how you solved each.

• How to plan out each episode- I thought about WHO I would be interviewing, and based each
question off of what they know due to their own profession
• Recording both My audio and the Guest Speaker's Audio- I used the Open Broadcaster Software
application on the computer to be able to get around this, as I was previously using Audacity (to
no avail)
• Uploading my Podcast- I originally thought that I would be able to easily upload my podcast
immediately onto spotify for anyone to see, but I learned that I originally needed to upload my
podcast onto a hosting website- so I used Buzzsprout
• There was one day that was originally planned for a podcast recording time, but due to an
emergency with one of the speakers- it had to be delayed. Goes to show that even when you plan
something, things can fall out of place

• List materials used.

Computer
Microphone
Audio Interface
Audio Software on computer (Open Broadcast Software, and Audacity)
Buzzsprout
Spotify
Google Docs

• List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.

Luke Walker- My consultant for my senior project.

Trent Bryant- 1st Guest Speaker on the soothing tunes podcast- he allowed the meeting to happen, as he
was completely neccessary to be present for an episode to occur at all

Sue Dempsey- 2nd Guest Speaker on the soothing tunes podcast- she expressed her ideas on the podcast;
the 2nd episode wouldn't have happened without her

Holly Waide- 3rd Guest Speaker- same reason as above

My family- keeping me sane and focused

• How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project? Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.

It's... quite different. I expected a much more professional environment, as I would actually be getting
real equipment, such as lighting equipment, a camera, and a proper space/studio to record the podcast
episodes. I'm sure that having a pandemic is a reason that makes sense, as to why I had to have virtual
interviews recorded- rather than have an impossible face to face meeting.

• If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?

I would have wanted a proper interview at a studio with each of my guests, instead of having a zoom
meeting with each of them. I think that if I had a youtube video of the interview, alongside the
podcasts, it would've been much more professional and worthwhile.

• Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?

I learned alot about how to speak to people, including articulation, how to plan out what I say, how to be
expressive when in a conversation, and how to incorporate ideas from multiple points into a thought.

• What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words.

Grade: 84

Justification: I believe I did less than other students, and while I did spen alot of time on my project- my
consultant didn't really have a final impact on the project itself, and It could've been alot larger than what
It ended up being. I'm satisfied with what I acomplished.
