ALABRO
Reaction Paper / MBA

“The People, Purpose And Passion: The Pathway To Success Seminar” was held at
Nonette’s Green Leaf Garden In Brgy Bolbok, Lipa City, Batangas last February 2, 2019. The
said seminar started at 9:00 am followed by an opening speech of Dr. Dante Lubis and Dr.
Catalina Dayon. Participants are the professors, faculty members and the graduate students
of lipa city colleges and golden gate colleges. Dr. Dante Lubis shared us a lot of his
knowledge, aspiration and passion and courage to strive hard to become a successful
entrepreneur.

The first speaker, MR. Joel M. Peña, the CEO of the UMALI-PEÑA development
corporation and the owner of the Big Ben Complex. He shared his own personal stories and
how he ended up on becoming a successful entrepreneur. He came from a business minded
family who owns a bake shop and a jewellery shop but unfortunately, the jewellery business
failed. But because of his passion and by working so hard, he is now a successful business
man. He also told us about being engaged in a business at his young age. He used to sell
different types of products and he was able to earn his own money then. He also mentioned
some business types and ideas that we can start to. And by listening through his speech, I
learned that you must follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and
above all, don’t let anyone limit your dreams.

The second speaker, Mr. Michael Gerald Morado, a businessman, and one of the
owners of Lipa Bank. Like the MR. Peña, he also grew up in a business-oriented family whom
owns the said bank. And as for him, he was only 6 years old when he got trained as phone
operator. Mr. Morada, is very kind and generous person especially to his employees. He is
giving opportunities such as promotions to those who are working hard and has potentials
regardless of educational backgrounds. This is because he believes that it doesn’t really
matter if you are a degree holder or not, as long as you possessed the passion and by
working hard to achieve your goals.

AS per Mr. Morada’s speech, the lessons which I learned are, the greatness of a man is not
on how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity, kindness, passion on whatever you do,
and the ability to influence with positivity the people around him.
