3.2.2 In lieu of Type 321 stainless steels, Type 347 SS material is acceptable.
3.3Substitutions allowed above & not require written approval; however, these specific substitutions
must be clearly indicated in the quotation.
8.1 All fabrication, assembly, and repair welding shall be performed by welders and welding operators
qualified under the requirements of ANSI B31.3. All welding procedures shall be qualified as required by
ANSI B31.3.
8.2 The vendor shall maintain a List of currently qualified welders and welding operators. This list shall
always be available to the Purchasers, Inspectors.
8.3 Fabrication, assembly, and repair welding shall be by processes using filler metal. The filler metal
shall match the chemistry of the strainer body or component.
8.4 Welding on conventional strainers and strainers specified to NACE MR-01-75 shall use WPS and
PQR's that have been qualified to the Brinell hardness requirements of Section 4 paragraph 4.2 of this
standard.
8.5 NDE examinations shall be performed after any required heat treatment.
Weld repairs on ferritic chrome alloy pipe and components shall be made prior to heat treatment. If
weld repairs are found to be necessary after heat treatment, the material shall be re-heat treated after
completion of repairs.
12 IDENTIFICATION
The stamp shall include the following information:
Size, Strainer Letter Symbol, Pressure Class Material
Facing Surface Finish
Manufacturing Number
Manufacturer
Unique Identification Code (as given in the purchase description)
All strainers shall have permanent flow direction arrow on the strainer body.
13 SPARE PARTS
13.1 The vendor must furnish with his quotation a completed "Spare Parts Interchangeability Record"
(SPIR) form together with cross-sectional drawings and parts list for each model or type of strainer
supplied.
13.2 Each spare part will be assigned an owner's stock number which will be sent to the vendor
before they ship their order. The stock numbers may be assigned at a later date and are not required
when placing the spare parts purchase order.

1.0 GENERAL
1.1 SCOPE
This appendix provides a checklist for the extent of inspection at the Vendor's plant for strainers. It
defines the responsibilities of the Vendor or sub vendors ' Inspection personnel, and defines the items
that the Purchaser's inspection personnel review and witness, either random or 100 percent. Conflicts
between this checklist, and the reference codes and standards must be resolved before submittal of
final quotations.
1.2 EXTENT OF INSPECTION
1.2.1The Vendor is responsible for full compliance with all requirements of this standard, the purchase
description, the referenced codes and material standards. The checklist requires monitoring of certain of
these requirements. The Vendor shall comply with all requirements of the documents, codes, and
standards not specifically included in the checklist. The Purchasers inspector will monitor the Vendors
compliance with all requirements and is not limited to those items listed in the checklists.
1.2.2The extent of inspection shall consist of one strainer of each size, pressure rating and material, plus
one additional strainer for each quantity over 50 of each size, pressure rating and material for
the following items:
a) 4-inch and larger sizes, in all materials, for pressure classes 150# to 600# shall be inspected.
b) All sizes, in all materials, for pressure classes 900# and over shall be inspected.

RADIOGRAPHIC EXAMINATION
NOTES:
1. Indicates quantity of the initial castings from each foundry for each pressure class and material
type. Select larger sizes.
2. Production castings.
3. Critical areas for strainers shall be as defined for special class valves in ANSI B16.34. Additional
areas may be selected by the inspector based on the results of the 100% radiography of the
initial castings
