KM/CS-2560/3060 Firmware Release Notes
Problem 1
If the machine enters sleep mode under toner Low conditions (“Toner low” message on display), the following
operation will be repeated.
After 10 seconds, the main unit starts. Æ Warm-up operation runs for 40 seconds and stops.
Æ 10 seconds later, warm-up operation restarts and continues for 40 seconds.
The new security level setting was added in Ver. 2.42. It was programmed that the HD be accessed to read the
security level when renewing the sub-message. When the HDD is accessed after entering sleep mode, the Engine
was instructed to come out of sleep mode.
MAIN F/W: HDD will not be accessed at the sub-message renewal while in the power saver or sleep mode.
MMI2 F/W: Basic information will not be acquired when renewing the sub-message.
Problem 2
After replacing the toner container, “Adding toner” message displays and even when the operation is completed,
“Please wait” or ”Adjusting” message may continue to display disabling the machine.
• There may be no change after 10 minutes or so and pressing the operation unit power button does not turn
the power OFF. Cycling the main power switch will solve this issue.
• Even while “Please wait” or “Adjusting” message are being displayed, FAX reception is available and
function key and status key are responsive.
While the “Replaced toner container?” dialogue is normally displayed from the toner empty display screen when
the front cover is closed after replacing the toner container, in very rare cases, the dialogue may display before the
toner empty screen closes. When the toner empty screen closes in that condition, the dialogue becomes inactive,
disabling the operation panel.
Preventive Measure
The “Replaced toner container?” dialogue will not be displayed before closing the toner empty screen.

1. Addition of new display for total remaining capacity on the FAX Box screen
When the CF backup kit is installed, the remaining capacity has been added on the FAX Box screen.
In addition, a change is made to display number of stored document per BOX.
Display the total remaining capacity for FAX confidential BOX on the FAX Box screen.
Display the used capacity by each Box of FAX Box
A change is made to the image process filter to improve the Color scanner image with (JPEG, PDF,
TIFF). New Maintenance mode U470 has been added so the compression ratio setting can be
changed.
U470 [Set JPEG Compression rate] has been added to make the compression ratio for each step
changeable.
Default setting
Set compression rate 1 2 3 4 5
Old 10 30 50 70 90
New 30 40 50 80 95
The actual operation of maintenance mode U632 (DIS 4BYTE: DIS signal 4 bite fixed) differs from
the service manual and other existing models and the ON/OFF setting works conversely in the actual
operation. This has been corrected.
ON --> DIS will not be controlled (Default) ON --> DIS will be 4byte
OFF --> DIS will be 4byte OFF --> DIS will not be controlled (Default)
iFAX RX/mail print cannot be received correctly through certain providers. This has been corrected.
(The problem occurs when the amount of data specified by server and the actual data do not match.)
The Font size of the error code on JAM screen and Service Call screen has been changed from 16p
to 24p.
6. Measure for Fax reception/print failure after entering the partial operation control mode
If the paper cassette for printing the received FAX enters the partial operation control mode, even if
FAX is received, it may fail to be printed due to unavailability of applicable size paper. It has been
modified so in this situation, an "Out of paper" message will be displayed.
During the Fax transmission when waiting for re-dial on the JOB, status screen displays “Sending”.
This is confusing and not clear whether the JOB is still waiting to be sent or is actually being sent and
ultimately it may be mistaken as a machine lockup. The status screen message for waiting for FAX
re-dial has been changed from "Sending" to "Waiting".
If a Print Over Run occurs during the FAX RX printing, the panel may lockup instead of displaying an
error message. This has been corrected.
9. Measure for missing image at the left edge with certain PCL data
The image at the left edge may not be printed when using certain PCL data. This has been corrected.
The panel may lockup if the software keyboard is opened immediately after turning the power source
ON, etc. This has been corrected.
When using the machine continuously for a long period of time, the panel may lock up or the panel
response speed may decrease due to memory shortage or damage to the memory. This has been
corrected.
12. Font error may occur when printing the data (Unicode spool file) that is output under a SAP
environment
13. Measure for partial background when printing certain PDF data
When printing certain PDF data, the image may be printed with background. This has been
corrected.
A KPDL error may occur when printing certain file. This has been corrected.
A CF33F may trigger when printing with KM Driver in certain settings. This has been corrected.
When receiving long size Fax, a CF620 error code may trigger. This has been corrected.
17. Changing the method of displaying/resetting the error code C6020 (abnormally high
fuser unit thermistor temperature)
The displaying and resetting of a C6020 error code (Abnormally high fuser unit thermistor
temperature) has been changed as illustrated below.
If a C6020 is detected, it will be displayed as a system error and can be reset by turning the
power OFF and then ON. (Up to two detections)
The third time when a C6020 is detected, it will be displayed as a service call as before. (Please
reset it in maintenance mode U163.)
The number of occurrence above will be reset (to “0”) when the main unit enters ready mode.
[Example]
In rare cases, a CF423 or CF323 may occur when the data is sent to main unit after changing the
setting using Launcher software.
CFB2C may trigger due to various causes. This has been corrected.
22. Measure to prevent a lockup after changing the setting from the system menu
In rare cases, the CD icon may remain on the panel after changing the setting from the system menu.
This has been corrected.
23. Measure for an incorrect message when staple setting is made without setting originals
When the staple setting is made with the DF-710 (*1) or DF-750 installed, unless the original is set
and depending on the combination of settings, a "Cannot staple this size" message displays even if
the size combination of original and paper for copying/stapling is correct. This message is also
displayed during the copy operation and it is misguiding. A Modification has been carried out to
resolve the problem.
[The message will now display only when the original is set with non-operable combinations.
(*1) The message will not display with one point stapling on the DF-710.

The KM/CS-2560/3060 Combined Firmware 03/08A
Details of Changes
If the power source voltage decreases (less than 90% of rated voltage) and the MFP is in a low
temperature environment (10ºC or less during the warm-up operation), a C6000 error code may
trigger. As a preventative measure, the detection conditions are changed.
(Specification: Power source --- Rated voltage ± 10%, Temperature --- 10ºC ~ 32.5ºC)
During the warm-up/stand-by mode: When the center fixing temperature is equal or drops below
70ºC and remains for 10 seconds.
During the warm-up/stand-by mode: When the edge fixing temperature is equal or drops below
40ºC and remains for 10 seconds.
During the warm-up/stand-by mode: When the center fixing temperature is equal or drops below
70ºC and remains for 14 seconds.
During the warm-up/stand-by mode: When edge fixing temperature is equal or drops below 50ºC
and remains for 14 seconds.
The conditions during the warm-up mode continue for 140 seconds or more.
.
After performing multiple print jobs using the DF-670 as one of the eject destinations and if the final
job eject destination is different, the main unit drive will stop but the finisher will continue. This has
been corrected.
3. Measure for a JAM after cancelling a job while printing in duplex mode
While performing multiple print jobs with different eject destinations, if you cancel a print job in duplex
mode between the jobs when the eject destination changes, the paper in the duplex unit may remain.
As a result, a paper jam occurs. This has been corrected.
5. Measure for a CF620 code that may trigger when API data is executed
MAIN
After API data is executed/printed and then various operations are carried out, a CF620 code may
trigger. This has been corrected.
One example is as follows. A CF-620 code triggers if the status page is printed multiple times from
the operation panel.

1 Measure for malfunction When the start key is pressed while shifting into auto sleep, the machine keeps showing
for auto sleep “Wait for a While”. This is corrected.
2 Measure for CF26F Correction is made since CF26F occurs immediately after continuous chain JAM.
3 Change of Command
Applicable to option language at Command Center
Center
4 Change of name of option [Security Kit] ⇒ [Data Security Kit (C)]
printed on the status page In order to obtain ISO15408, it is necessary to print out the name of option as an
application.
5 Correction at PG output After PG output by U089 (MIP-PG output), C0630 error (DMA abnormal) might occur. This
is corrected.
6 Measure for CF445 at When drum heater turns ON, CF445 might occur when the start key is pressed while
auto sleep shifting into auto sleep. This is corrected.
7 Measure for not shifting The correction is made so the machine shifts into the sleep mode even after
into sleep mode passing the set time.
8 Correction at continuing When importing the address book data by KM-NET VIEWR, if the power save key is
operation from energy pressed and then the power key continuously back and forth, the panel may lock or a
save key to power key CF630 may occur. This is corrected.
9 Measure for lock during When approx 1200pages print out continuously from as 1 Job, the printing speed will
continuous JOB reception decrease and eventually the print JOB locks. When the lock is cancelled, a CF000 occurs.
This is corrected.
10 Measure for not feeding The paper feeding is not possible with the correct cassette at duplex mixed data with
from correct cassette slot different output sizes (example Letter – R/Legal) using the certain application. This is
with a certain application corrected
11 Measure at Network The correction is made for Private Print (Job Retention function). It may not be available to
authentication use at Network authentication.
12 Measure for no FAX Reception is not possible since FAX transmission JOB keeps on processing. (Copy/Print

1 Support for sleep mode During the low power mode, with FAX timer TX set, FAX poling TX, network FAX TX job,
the machine does not go into the sleep mode after the job is finished. This is corrected.
2 Support for FRPO When setting the FRPO command D6 [Set Jam Retry Timing] to 01 (set Jam Retry
command D6 [Set Jam Timing at the timing of reaching fuser section), if a double feed Jam occurs, the
Retry Timing] machine will be waiting to eject the paper and drive does not stop. This is corrected.
(The default setting for FRPO command D6 is 03: Jam Retry Timing is set at completing
output)
3 Support for A5 When A5 (lateral)/LETTER (lateral) is set on the bypass with paper size auto detection
(lateral)/LETTER set, as A5 (lateral)/LETTER (lateral) is out of specification and they are detected as
(lateral) when setting A4R/LETTER R.

5 Improving white spots Because of the gap between charge and discharge (cleaning), there may be the
at the leading edge possibility to skip the image laterally at the leading edge of a gray image. The charge
section with gray image timing is corrected.
[Change] After 200ms from cleaning lamp ON, the charge will be ON Æ after 100ms
from cleaning lamp ON, the charge will be ON.
6 Review transfer timing Currently transfer ON timing does not have any tolerance (close to the leading edge of
ON only the paper).
[Change] The transfer ON timing is delayed for about 10msec.
