Homework 8 Induction Motor 3

1. There is a three-phase induction motor with the following rated parameters: P N =10 kW , 2p=4,
U N =380V , I N =19.8 A (Y connection for armature winding), R1=0.5 Ω .The no-load test
data( s ≈ 0): U 0 =380V , I 0=5.4 A , P0=425 W , the mechanical loss pm =80 W ; The
short-circuit test data (rotor is blocked ): U k =120V , I k =18.1 A , Pk =920W . It is
supposed that the additional loss is ignored and X 1 σ = X 2 σ' . Try to calculate the induction motor
parameters R2' , X 1σ , X 2 σ' , Rm and X m. (8 ponits)

2. There is an 3-phase induction motor. Under the nominal operation condition, the input power is
3600W, the rotor copper loss is 100W, the slip is 0.03, and the mechanical loss and additional
loss in total is 100W. Try to calculate the electromagnetic power, stator total loss and output
power under nominal condition. (6 points)

3. There is a 3-phase 6-poles induction motor with the nominal voltage of 380V (star connection),
the rated frequency of 50Hz,the rated power of 28kW, the nominal speed of 950 rpm and
nominal power factor of 0.88. Under machine normal operation condition, the stator copper loss
and iron loss in total is 2.2kW, the mechanical power loss is 1.1kw. the additional loss can be
ignored. Try to calculate the motor nominal slip, rotor current frequency, rotor copper loss,
efficiency and stator current. (6 Points)
