The dream trip

Some time ago I downloaded a phone app. The purpose of this app was to know the capitals of the
countries. The app shows you the map of the country and you need to know the capital. In this way, I
have heard of a country that I always knew existed, but I have never wondered which continent is
located, how big or what language is spoken, even the capital. So I became very curious and decided
to take a little more interest in finding information about the country.

So I really just wanted to visit the small and exotic country called Togo in West Africa, just from one
game with the knowledge of the capitals.

Togo is a country in West Africa. It borders Ghana to the west, Benin to the east and Burkina Faso to
the north, and to the south it has an outlet to the Gulf of Guinea, where the capital Lome is located.
With an area of about 57,000 square kilometers, Togo is one of the smallest countries in Africa with a
population of about 7.5 million.
Perhaps the biggest impression for me was the capital of Togo Lome.

Lome is the capital and largest city of Togo. The city's population is 837 477 [2], while its capital had
1570 283 permanent residents at the 2011 census. [2] Located on the Gulf of Guinea, Lome is the
administrative and industrial center of the country, which includes the oil refinery and its main port.
for the export of coffee, cocoa, copra and oil palm kernels. Lomé is surrounded by a lagoon to the
north, the Atlantic Ocean to the south, village B to the east and the border of Aflao, Ghana to the
west.

The Lome districts include Ablogamé, Adawlato, Amoutivé, Bé, Dékon, Forever, Kodjoviakopé,
Noukafou, Nyékonakpoé, Tokoin and Xédranawoe.

Cities and towns in the greater Lome area include: Aflao (Ghana), Agalepedogan, Akadesheva,
Anfame, Baguida, Kanikope, Kelekugan, Lome II, Totsigan, Adidom, Keg and Totsivi.

The climate in Togo is generally tropical with average temperatures of 23 ° C (73 ° F) onshore to
about 30 ° C (86 ° F) in the northernmost regions, with a dry climate and tropical savanna
characteristics. There are two seasons of rain in the south (the first between April and July and the
second between September and November), although average rainfall is not very high.
Another thing that impressed me in the country itself is the culture and architecture.

The city of Lome is a typical African city in the sense that many styles, influences and traditions are
mixed. The landscape combines red land with large boulevards and large squares, green gardens and
colorful houses.

There are some remains of colonial architecture from the end of the century, such as arcades and
galleries and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, designed in the German Gothic style. There are also
many modern buildings, such as the BCEAO headquarters, BTCI, the magnificent ECOWAS building,
the Hotel de la Paix, the Mercure Sarakawa Hotel, the Palm Beach Hotel, and the famous Hotel du 2
Fevrier, which stands 102 meters high.

Not far away is the Grand Lome, with a large 3-storey hall. It sells everything from red peppers, green
lemons and dried fish to combs, travel bags and traditional medicines. There are spices like cinnamon
sticks, star anise, cloves and nutmeg. [9] On the first floor is Nana Benz, which is distinguished for its
clothing. Closer to the city center, there is the Akodeseva market, which is much more specialized
than the common market. There are fetishes, gongs and gris-gris.

The shore is much fiercer than the market, with local fishermen quietly pushing their big boats out to
sea. To the west of the town is a residential area that faces the sea. The area has long streets littered
with official government buildings, excluding the Palace of Justice and the various embassies and
consulates. There is a fishermen's market (Marché du port de pêche) just east of the port. The
market is used by local fishermen to sell their fish directly to sellers. The market is an entry point for
canoes used by fishermen.

To the north, near the Independence Monument, is the Togolese Rally House (RPT), a major
convention center.
The National Museum of Togo is located in the Congrès Palace. The museum contains collections,
jewelry, musical instruments, dolls, ceramics, weapons and many other items displaying arts and
traditions.

So far, I have talked about the state of the country's climate attractions, but have not said anything
about the language.

Togo is a multilingual country. According to Ethnologue, 39 distinct languages are spoken in the
country, many of them by communities that number fewer than 100,000 members. Of the 39
languages, the sole official language is French. Two spoken indigenous languages were designated
politically as national languages in 1975: and Kabiyé; they are also the two most widely spoken
indigenous languages.

French is used in formal education, legislature, all forms of media, administration and commerce.
Ewe is a language of wider communication in the south. Tem functions to a limited extent as a trade
language in some northern towns. Officially, Ewe and Kabiye are "national languages", which in the
Togolese context means languages that are promoted in formal education and used in the media.

In short. I liked Togo as a dream vacation country because in the first place it was something out of
the ordinary. Second is not too warm like in other African countries and third is beautiful nature and
unusual culture.
