Main Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education and the immediate
responsibilities supervision of the Director of the Education for All (EFA) Global Partnerships Team, the incumbent
will assist and serve in the global coordination of EFA. He/She will contribute to the collaboration and
building partnerships with key EFA stakeholders, including the private sector and civil society. This
involves contributing to analytical and strategic work on how to strengthen the efficiency of these
partnerships. In particular, the incumbent will:

ƒ Prepare and ensure follow-up of the annual review meetings on EFA, as well as other external and
internal meetings related to EFA;
ƒ Assist in coordinating, strengthening and promoting partnerships with education stakeholders,
particularly with the civil society and private sector for achieving the EFA Goals;
ƒ Collect, analyze and interpret information and data on policies, strategies, programmes and
activities of the civil society organisations and networks, and private companies and organisations
in order to strengthen UNESCO’s partnerships and cooperation in specific areas;
ƒ Research developments with regard to public-private and multi-stakeholder partnerships in
education in order to inform and enrich UNESCO's strategies for coordinating the EFA movement;
ƒ Prepare, compile and exchange information required for presentations, speeches, documents,
reports and papers, as well as contribute to background information, and follow-up and organize
joint activities linked to specific programme areas;
ƒ Contribute to the programme strategies and initiatives by evaluating existing activities and
documents. Prepare proposals and concept notes, and revise and compile information for planning
and programming documents such as C/4 and C/5 inputs as required;
ƒ Contribute to activities related to communication and advocacy for EFA.

Profile ƒ Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in education, social sciences,
international relations or related fields.
ƒ 2 to 4 years of professional experience in the field of education, of which preferably one year
acquired at the international level.
ƒ Very good knowledge of the international development agenda, particularly in the field of Education
for All (EFA).
ƒ Proven experience in data collection and analysis in the areas of education and human
development and related internationally agreed goals.
ƒ Working experience in building partnerships and concrete collaboration with different actors in
education development, especially with non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
ƒ Very good communication and drafting skills.
ƒ Excellent IT skills.
ƒ Excellent knowledge of English or French; a good knowledge of the other language would be an
asset. Knowledge of other official UN languages would be an advantage.

Conditions of UNESCO’s salaries are calculated in US dollars but mainly paid in local currency. They consist of a
employment basic salary and a post adjustment which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station and
exchange rates. For this post, the annual remuneration in local currency will start from around 47,100
euros (44,400 euros if without dependants) for P-1 and from around 59,500 euros (55,800 euros if
without dependants) for P-2, exempt from income tax. In addition, UNESCO offers an attractive
benefits package including 30 days annual vacation, home travel, education grant for dependent
children, pension plan and medical insurance. The initial appointment, which is for two years,
includes a probationary period of 12 months, and is renewable, subject to satisfactory service.
Worldwide mobility is required as staff members have to serve in other duty stations according to
UNESCO’s job rotation policy. UNESCO is a non-smoking organization.
