AIM AND OBJECTIVEs

Primary Objective
To evaluate the iron status in normal pregnant women of Northern Kerala.
Secondary objectives
1. To compare iron status of pregnant women and non pregnant women of
reproductive age.
2. To compare the hematological parameters like Hb, RBC, PCV, MCHC,
MCH and MCV in pregnant and non pregnant women.
3. To compare iron level with hemoglobin
4. To find out correlation of iron status with serum calcium and
phosphorus levels.
5. To assess the use of iron status for establishing iron deficiency anemia
in pregnant women.
6. To establish iron status as a routine investigation in pregnant women
with iron deficiency anemia.
