WATERTIGHT SEALING FOR PIPE PENETRATIONS

I. MATERIALS

• Sika Hydrotite CJ type : Hydrophilic water sealing profile

• SikaSwell S2 : Extrudible water swelling profile
• Sika Grout 214-11 : Pre-mix, non-shrink grout

II. SURFACE PREPARATIONS

STEEL PIPE:
• Free of dirt, oil, fat, grease, rust etc.
• Dry condition
CONCRETE:
• Roughen concrete surface
• Sound and solid, free of laitance, oil, dust, loose and friable particles
• Pre-wet substrate with copious amount of clean water until fully saturated but no
standing water prior to the application of Sika Grout 214-11

III. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Sika Hydrotite CJ type for Concrete Substrate:

• Use Sika Swell S2 applied in thin bed to glue Sika Hydrotite CJ type to concrete
substrate.
(consumption of SikaSwell S2 shall be approx. 30-50 ml per meter of Sika Hydrotite
CJ)
• Apply Sika Hydrotite CJ type + Sika Swell S2 to the concrete surface.
• In meeting point (edge), butt joint the Sika Hydrotite CJ type and covered with
SikaSwell S2 (see drawing).
• Wait for min. 4 hours until SikaSwell S2 starts to skin before pouring Sika Grout
214-11.
Note:
The minimum thickness of Sika Grout 214-11 around Sika Hydrotite CJ type should
be at least 100 mm on each side.

SikaSwell S2 for Pipe:

• Cut the nozzle to obtain a 15x15x15 mm triangular section. (Theoretical
consumption of Sikaswell S2 shall be 6.1 m per 600 ml sausage.
• Apply it continuously surrounding steel pipe outer surface.
• In meeting point (edge), allow a minimum 30 mm overlaps.
• Wait for minimum 4 hours until SikaSwell S2 starts to skin before pouring Sika
Grout 214–11
Note:
The minimum thickness of Sika Grout 214-11 around SikaSwellS2 should be at
least 100 mm on each side.

Formwork:
• Formwork must be firmly in place, watertight and pre-treated with suitable release
agent, or use plastic lined plywood.
• Formwork must be carried out above the level at which the poured grout will finish
and openings must be provided in opposite side of the pouring place (see drawing).

Sika Grout 214-11:

• Mix Sika Grout 214-11 as per instructions given in the technical data sheet.
• Pour from one side to avoid air entrapped and tamp formwork slightly with hammer,
or use external vibrator.
• Leave formwork in place for at least three days or remove formwork after 24 hours
and cure with damp hessian for at least three days.
• After 7-days, cut the protruding section using grinding machine and if necessary use
Sika Refit 2000 as levelling material to achieve a smooth finished surface.
Note:
• Mix Sika Grout 214-11 with 10-mm aggregate.
• Ratio Sika Grout 214-11 : 10 mm aggregate = 25 kg : 12.5 – 25 kg.
• Aggregate must be in saturated surface dry condition prior to mixing with Sika
Grout 214-11.
