Background Procedure Conclusion

We Papua New Guineans are one of the major consumers of tinned
or canned items such as tinned fish which is a very popular ingredient
in our daily diet. However, after consummation the tin or can is found
polluting our environment. Why is this so? Is it because after using the
product in the tin, the tin now is useless? No, the tin is not useless.
In our Project, we recycled used tins and transformed them into a
useful item Called “ TIN COOKER & HEATER”.
Objective
General
• To make use of waste material such as Tin.
• To create a safe and healthy environment free from pollutions.
• To save money
Specific
• To create a tin cooker
• With additional features such as heater for cold nights
• By utilizing used tins
Step 1
• Cut a hole with the diameter of 6.5cm (Baked bean’s
Diameter) on the Tin Paint and also on one of the ocean
blue tin.
Step 2
• Weld the edges of the two ocean blue tin together and also
do the same for two baked beans tin.
Step 3
• Place the welded ocean blue tins in the tin paint with the
hole of one tin in line with hole on the tin paint.
Step 4
• Place the welded baked bean tins through the hole of the tin
paint and let it rest in the hole of the ocean blue tin.
Step 5
- Fill
in the empty space of the tin paint with fillings such as
sand or pebble.
• It is the duty and responsibility for every engineers to create possible
solutions to problems facing humanity today. The act of disposing
waste such as tin, can be referred to as environmental pollution which
one of the most common problems in our society.
• To address this issue, in our project we utilized waste tin to create what
is called a “ Tin Cooker and Heater”. This is a multi-purpose invention
which can act as a Cooker & Heater to meet needs of people who
cannot afford an electric Cooker & Heater, and also provides an great
way to minimize pollution and save money.
Recommendations
• We would like to recommend this “Tin Cooker & Heater” as a smart,
economical and environmental friendly way to recycle waste materials
such as Tin.
• Furthermore, its is an ideal inventions for outdoor activities such as
camping.

Step 6
- Use the scrap metal as a grate and slide the thin metal sheet
into the baked beans tin to act as a bed for woodchips.

Step 7
- Put in some woodchips (fuel) on the thin metal sheet and
make a fire.
