In addition to the Notification issued by the University i.e. DSNLU/RP/NOTFN/2020/0027
dated May 14, 2020, the following Guidelines are issued:

I. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF RESEARCH PAPER, PPT AND VIVA-


VOCE:

1. The submission of the Research Paper1 and Viva-Voce is in lieu of the End Semester
Examination for the Academic Year 2019-20. The Scheme for Evaluation of the
Research Paper for 1st, 2nd 3rd, 4th, 5th year and LL.M. Program is as follows:

Research Paper (Maximum Marks: 50)


Written Submission 40 Marks
PPT Presentation & Viva Voce 10 Marks
Total 50 Marks

2. Rules for Submission of the Research Paper:


a. The Faculty Member will identify the titles of the Research Paper and submit the
topics to the Examination Department.
b. Students shall not receive the topics from the faculty member. The Examination
Department shall allot the topics to the students.
c. The word limit for the Research Paper (excluding the title, abbreviations,
bibliography, etc.) shall be not less than 9,000 words.
d. The Research Paper shall be a quality work and the Faculty Member shall be
Evaluating on the quality of the work and ability and skill of student to analyze
the law.
e. Written Submission shall be typed in Times New Roman, Font size 12 with 1.5
lines space with 1-inch margin on all sides.

The Research Paper is an academic writing by an independent research includes developing a
research question and thesis, document the sources and writes a description of the findings of
that research. The impetus of the author shall be to take a stand on the topic by providing
support for that position in an organized report. The work shall consist of original research or
an evaluation of research conducted by others maintaining the academic tone.  The Research
Paper shall analyze a perspective and argue on a point with the interpretation or evaluation of
the topic. It shall present students perspective / original thinking supported by the ideas and
information available. E.g. as a Law Student, research by reading many cases and using the
decided cases to support or disapprove their opinion. It is to build the topic of what experts
have already said and analyzed and make a deliberate attempt to examine the topic. Research
shall provide logic, which shall be inductive by maintaining the quality of the study.

f. Soft copy of the Research Paper shall be submitted to the Faculty Member
concerned and a copy marked to the Examination Department without fail and
within the timeline notified by the University.
g. In preparing the Research Paper, the student may seek guidance from the Faculty
Member and updates on the work progress shall be communicated.
h. The UGC Guidelines or rules for “the plagiarism” is applicable. Any plagiarized
work is liable to be rejected and the Faculty Members are requested to
communicate the same to the Examination Department immediately.
i. Students shall attend Viva-Voce conducted by the Faculty Member of the
concerned subject and strictly adhere to the timelines.

3. Structure of the Research Paper (Model Structure of Title Page is provided at the
last page):
a. Cover Page
b. Title of the Research Paper
c. Name of the Student, Roll No. and Name of the Program
d. Subject
e. Name of the Faculty Member
f. Name of the University and Place
g. Date of Submission
h. The Content of the Research Paper:
i. Table of Contents
ii. List of Abbreviation, if any
iii. Table of cases
iv. The Research Paper may be divided into several Parts / Chapters
(depending on the Subject) and provide a systematic treatment of the
subject and synergy of law with conclusions and suggestions.
4. The students shall prepare a PPT for the Research Paper and submit the copy prior to the
Viva-Voce to the Faculty Member concerned and copy the same to the Examination
Department. The Evaluation of the Research Paper shall also be based on the PPT
submitted by the student.

II. The Guidelines for the submission of the Projects including Viva-Voce shall be as
notified earlier. The student shall submit the project in electronic form and mail the copy
to concerned Faculty Member for evaluation and there upon to conduct Viva-Voce. The
Viva-Voce will be conducted by the Faculty Member online. The Schedule for Viva-
Voce shall be at the convenience of the Faculty Member and in conformity of the notified
schedule.

III. The Guidelines for the submission of the Seminar Paper (5th year only) including
Viva-Voce shall be as notified earlier and shall be as per the Examination Regulations.

The student shall submit the Seminar Paper dissertation in electronic form and mail the
copy to concerned Faculty Member for evaluation with a copy to the Examination
Department. The Evaluation of written submission and Viva-Voce shall be online and
conducted by the Faculty Member Concerned with the “External Expert” as per Rule 81
of the Examination Regulations.

IV. LL.M. Program – Evaluation of the Dissertation shall be as per the Examination
Regulations. The Evaluation of Dissertation and Viva-Voce shall be online and
conducted by the Faculty Member Concerned with the “External Expert”. Four Hard
Copies of the written submission shall be submitted to the Academic Department on or
before taking “No Due Certificate” as per the University Regulations.

V. Back-log Examinations: The notified regulations are applicable only to the students for
pursuing the current Academic Year 2019-20. For the students having back-log
examinations, the University will conduct the examinations after the reopening of the
University.

VI. The students Attendance will be notified after completion of the classes and shall be as
Examination Regulations and the UGC Guidelines.

VII. The University has established the “Student’s Grievance Cell”. Any queries shall be
made to the mail.id provided in the notification, i.e., covid-19sgc@dsnlu.ac.in
Student may mail for any grievance.
