SYNOPSIS

SUBJECT: ENVIRONMENTAL LAW

RESEARCH TITLE: A Critical Review of National Green Tribunal Act,2010

INTODUCTION: The National Green Tribunal has been established under the National
Green Tribunal Act 2010 for effective and expeditious disposal of cases relating to
environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources including
enforcement of any legal right relating to environment and giving relief and compensation for
damages to persons and property and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. It
is a specialized body equipped with the necessary expertise to handle environmental disputes
involving multi-disciplinary issues.

OBJECTIVE: The main objective of this research is to study and critically analyze the
motive behind the amendment of the act and to know how it actually helps in dispute
resolution, to know whether this act has made any positive impact on the society. And to
assess how the changes in the act was helpful compared to when it was not amended.

SIGNIFICANCE: National green tribunal generally deals with issues relating to


environment and its protection.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: Doctrinal research will be done by the researcher for this
particular research.

SCOPE: The scope of this project is restricted to the National green tribunal act,2010.

HYPOTHESIS: Whether the introduction of this act benefited India? How is it used by the
benefactors?

LITERATURE REVIEW: The researcher will be referring various articles and books
related to National Green Tribunal. The researcher will also be referring to national and
international articles on performance of the above act.

CONCLUSION: This project will contain the idea behind the establishment of the act.
Analysis of its performance, various judgements conflicting with the provisions of the act.
And a thorough picture of how the act is functioning
